Our scientific visits take students beyond lectures into real-world science, from university labs to research centres and industry sites, turning theory into lived experience.

About the Experience

• Students choose visits that match their interests and head out in smaller groups.
• They step inside working labs, research centres, and industry sites in full operation.
• Visits include opportunities to join in experiments or try techniques first-hand.
• Scientists welcome them into their own environments, sharing insights and answering questions openly.
• Each visit reveals how different areas of STEM function day to day.

Key elements of our programme include opportunities to visit industrial sites, research centres, scientific institutions and organisations, including world-class research institutions and laboratories.

Why It Matters?

Students see science in action and experience collaboration firsthand. They can test their own interests against reality, explore potential careers, and gain the confidence to picture themselves in these roles. Observing research live turns abstract ideas into something tangible and often sparks new possibilities for their future.

Visits include top research departments, world-renowned centres of excellence in:

• London - including various University departments at Imperial College London, University College London (UCL), King's College London and London Metropolitan University, as well as, The Royal Institution, The Tate Museum Conservation Department, UCL Hospital and the London Wetland Centre.
• Across the UK, including Airbus, Rolls Royce, Animal & Plant Health Agency, Public Health England, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, National Space Centre, John Innes Centre, National Oceanography Centre, Rothamsted Research Centre, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, as well as to various University departments at, the University of Birmingham, Cardiff University, Cranfield University, University of Essex, University of Nottingham and University of Sussex.
• University of Oxford and University of Cambridge departments, including University hospital departments, as well as the British Antarctic Survey, the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy, the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre, HR Wallingford and The Wellcome Genome Campus.
