To be able to attend this forum I had to win a national science competition in Mexico. It was a long process but every step of the way was worth it. First, we won the regional competition, then we won the nationals and the final price was the opportunity to participate at LIYSF.
I can tell you that this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Every single little thing taught me something; the people, the lectures, the activities, and everything we did left something in me. I was able to spend time with people from all over the world, see their points of view, and get to know their culture. I met people not only from other parts of the world, but also from my own country. I went to the Forum alone and I came back home with some of the best friends I’ve ever made. The friendships we made in those two weeks are special, we got to know each other in very different ways and we became a family.
The lectures were amazing too. It is incredible to listen to someone who is so passionate about what they do for a living talk about their job. It was inspiring for the most of us and I’m sure many of us got a new perspective of what science really means. We got to see many of the best universities in England and we met people who went to school there. That helped me decide if I wanted to study in Mexico or I wanted to study abroad.
Altogether, I would like to thank all the people I met in those to weeks, my friends, the lecturers, the staff members, and Richard, for this experience. I wouldn’t change it for the world. It helped me realise what I wanted to do with my life and it would be an honour for me to help other people to do the same. Every single part of it is worth it because you don’t only get to grow as a student but also as a person.
Thank you for the best time of my life!
